First Impressions: New Nissan Navara Breaks Ground; Lifestyle-Edition Now in Nepal

Nissan has launched the all-new Nissan Navara in Nepal, the lifestyle edition of the popular pickup truck offers 5 variants. The prices start at Rs. 95.5 Lakh and tops out at Rs.1.16 Crore. The new Navara comes with a host of best-in-class technologies including an array of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features and safety systems.We were lucky enough to be handed the keys to the Navara’s top-end spec, Pro-4X, for an exclusive first drive. Read our overview of the new, advanced Navara.The DesignThe all-new Nissan Navara is not one to blend in. Its sheer size alone gets plenty of attention, and it backs it up with a masculine design language. The imposing front end gets a redesigned look with updated quad-LED projector headlights and C-shaped LED DRLs. They have further accentuated the aesthetics with a black emblem, black grille, orange-accented front bumper, door handles, roof racks, and 17-inch black wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.This pickup truck stretches out to a lengthy 5260mm from front to tail and boasts of a ground clearance of 225mm, thankfully you get a sidestep for easy ingress and egress from the cabin. You will also notice the extra body cladding on the wheel arches that add to the burly appeal of the off-roader.Around the back, you get a massive rear bed for utility purposes as well as a new integrated step in the rear bumper for easier access to the truck bed. You also get a new LE tail lamp cluster that looks good on the Navara.The Interior and FeaturesThe ‘lifestyle edition’ of the all-new Nissan Navara Pro-4X brings plenty of upgrades to the interior. The all-black interiors look great; the leather accented seats are sporty yet provide good support even on longer journeys. You get a 6-way manual adjustment for the driver ad a 4-way manual adjustment for the passenger.The pickup truck now gets a bigger 7-inch instrument meter, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a new TFT display. There is an 8-inch touch screen display with Apple Car Play and Android Auto Ready which also doubles as a camera display. We like that we get physical knobs for the controls which makes using the auto dual-zone air conditioning system easy to use.A new steering rack has been adopted to enhance the maneuverability at low speeds and steering response across the speed range. The Navara PRO-4X also gets Nissan Intelligent Mobility with additional features, Intelligent Emergency Braking, and Intelligent Around View Monitor with an off-road monitor.The PerformancePowering the Navara PRO-4X is a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 187 hp at 3600 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 450 Nm at 2000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with manual mode.You will find yourself perched up high on the Navara and you get an incredible vantage point. This will come to very good use when you’re maneuvering through off-road terrain, which is where the Navara will probably fare best. It also comes equipped with plenty of features to venture off the tarmac. A fully boxed ladder frame ensures more rigidity when tackling unforgiving terrain. The brake limited-slip differential and electronic locking rear differential add to its off-road capability.The 5-link rear suspension provides a well-cushioned ride for all the passengers. Uphill battles and downhill declines are further aided with the provision of a hill descent control and hill start assist function.While we weren’t able to test out the Navara Pro-4X offroad, our first impressions of driving it in the city have been wonderful. You get plenty of power from under the hood, which makes itself heard every time you level the pedal. The automatic transmission isn’t quick to shift, but it does a very decent job.
